SFC Festival 2023

OVERVIEW

The official launch of the State Football Centre was more than just a ribbon-cutting; it was a vibrant collision of sport, music, and community spirit. On October 27, 2023, the SFC Festival transformed Western Australia’s new home of football into a high-energy celebration. Acting as a white-label partner for KOJO, we delivered an event that felt like a "Music Festival meets Family Fun Day," welcoming 3,000 fans to witness the historic unveiling of the facility’s new identity.

OBJECTIVE & CHALLENGE

The primary mission for VenuesWest was twofold: officially launch the world-class facility to the public and announce its prestigious new name—the Sam Kerr Football Centre.

The challenge lay in the timeline and the high stakes of the guest list. With a planning period condensed into just one month, we had to coordinate a complex run-of-play involving top-tier athletes, rock legends, and the highest levels of State Government. We needed to solve the problem of how to make a formal government inauguration feel like a grassroots community festival without losing the prestige of the occasion.

INNOVATION & IMPLEMENTATION

To bridge the gap between "official ceremony" and "fan celebration," we curated a multi-layered experience that engaged every demographic.

The implementation centered on high-impact production and seamless stakeholder management. We integrated a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony by Ingrid Cumming to ground the event in culture, followed by a high-octane entertainment program.

  • The Festival Atmosphere: We blended "festival" staples like a Born to Sparkle glitter bar and local food trucks with elite football activities.

  • The Talent Pipeline: We managed a diverse roster of talent, from The Matildas and Perth Glory Women to Australian rock icons Eskimo Joe and DJ Wildflower.

  • Precision Logistics: Behind the scenes, our team oversaw the entire ecosystem—production, technical management, and crisis planning. We navigated the requirements of the Premier, Deputy Premier, and Minister for Sport, ensuring that the critical "naming moment" was executed with flawless timing.

RESULTS & SUCCESS

The SFC Festival was a resounding success, successfully cementing the Sam Kerr Football Centre as a landmark for WA sport.

  • ~3,000 engaged community members and fans.

  • A seamless transition from official dignitary speeches to a full-scale concert and football clinic.

  • The event provided a prestigious platform for the naming of the centre, leaving the client and the football community with a sense of pride and momentum.

“The professional service and delivery of our recent event by Nat and her team was next level, especially under the time pressures that were presented to us.
