Synergy Solar Schools
Challenge 2025
OVERVIEW
The Synergy Solar School Challenge 2025 was full of sunshine, science, and so much energy — literally. Over a few buzzing weeks in March and April, we teamed up with Synergy to bring hands-on learning and solar-powered fun to schools across WA.
From Albany to Geraldton, we set up tracks, rolled out build zones, and watched students light up (sometimes more than the cars!). The Grand Final at Murdoch Uni brought it home in style — with cheers, fast laps, and more than a few proud teachers.
OBJECTIVE & CHALLENGE
We set out to bring STEM off the page and into real life — using solar-powered cars, interactive build zones, and hands-on activities to make energy education feel exciting, relevant, and fun. The goal was to spark curiosity and show students how science and innovation play a role in the world around them.
The challenge was delivering that same high-energy experience across seven different schools, each with their own layout, timing, and logistics. From regional towns to metro campuses, it needed to feel seamless, engaging, and full of personality — and that’s exactly where we thrive.
INNOVATION & IMPLEMENTATION
Each event day had its own rhythm, but the formula stayed consistent. We created a lively build zone with branded trestle tables, snacks to keep the brain power flowing, and incredible mentors from Science Teachers Association of Western Australia, guiding students through their solar car builds.
Outside, the racetrack brought the energy — complete with a leaderboard, live commentary, music, and the one and only Robbie Figg, keeping the vibe high.
Behind the scenes, it was all hands on deck. From smooth bump-ins to seamless crew support from Perth Event Construction and Crewing, every detail was planned and executed to make the day feel effortless. Our team handled everything from client and venue coordination to technical setup and supplier management — so students could stay focused on learning, racing, and having a blast.
RESULTS & SUCCESS
Over seven heat events and one epic Grand Final, more than 150 students from across WA rolled up their sleeves and jumped into STEM like never before.
From problem-solving in real time to celebrating tight race finishes, the energy was real — and so were the learning moments. We saw students light up with confidence, teachers beam with pride, and more than a few “best day ever!” comments floating around the track.
The feedback from schools was overwhelmingly positive, with staff noting how engaged their students were — not just in racing, but in the science behind it. This was hands-on learning at its best, and we were proud to be part of every lap.
